Description:

Graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University, Karnataka. After graduating in India, Dr. Spandana Pasupuleti moved to the UK and worked as a Senior Clinical Fellow in Neonatology at Royal Gwent Hospital, UK. She subsequently completed her MRCPCH from the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, UK. Dr. Spandana is a distinguished Senior Paediatrician and Neonatologist with over 12 years of exemplary service in the UK healthcare system.

She has worked at several prestigious hospitals in UK including Prince Charles Hospital in Merthyr Tydfil, St. Michael Hospital in Bristol, University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, Singleton Hospital in Swansea, Morriston Hospital in Swansea, Royal Glamorgan Hospital, and Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.


Dr. Spandana has been a key part of NICU teams, playing a pivotal role in both Neonatal and Paediatric departments. Her dedication to patient safety and excellence in care is further demonstrated by her pursuit of a Master’s in Advancing Practice in Neonatology at Cardiff
University. Additionally, she completed a Nutrition Course in Health & Wellness: Designing a Sustainable Nutrition Plan at Harvard Medical School, USA.

  


 

Areas of Expertise:

  • Comprehensive training and experience in Neonatology, managing normal deliveries, Complex Resuscitations, and extremely preterm babies (from 24 weeks onwards).
  • Skilled in ventilation settings, including SIMV, SIPPV with Volume Guarantee, and HFOV, ensuring optimal Respiratory Support for Neonates.
  • Non-invasive ventilation (NIPPV, CPAP, HF), and Surfactant Administration (LISA procedure).
  • Expertise in performing procedures such as UAC and UVC insertion, longline (Central line) insertion using the Seldinger technique, normal wide bore needle, intubation from 24 -week gestation onwards, Scalp line insertion, Lumbar punctures and Chest Drain insertion
  • Experience in conducting Cranial Ultrasound Scans, Cerebral Function Monitoring.
  • Experience in Therapeutic Hypothermia: Application of whole-body hypothermia or selective head cooling for the management of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, aimed at reducing neurological sequelae and improving long-term outcomes.

 

Presentations and Publications:

 

Dr. Spandana has conducted numerous audits and presentations on various medical topics in the UK. These include:

  • An audit on early-onset neonatal sepsis, comparing pre- and post-implementation of NICE guidelines at Royal Gwent Hospital (RGH) and Nevill Hall Hospital (NHH) in 2016, with findings published in the Welsh Paediatric Journal (2017).
  • A follow-up audit titled "NICE or Not So NICE? An Audit of Early Onset Neonatal Sepsis" at Prince Charles Hospital, Merthyr Tydfil, in 2017.
  • An audit at Prince Charles Hospital (PCH) in 2015 on X-rays and antibiotics in asthma exacerbation, and a subsequent audit assessing current practice and outcomes for children with asthma exacerbation.
  • An audit of the Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) pathway packs at PCH, ensuring adherence to protocols and guidelines.
  • A clinical audit in August 2022, focused on improving medication chart standards to reduce errors and enhance patient safety.

 

In addition, she has presented her work at notable conferences, including:

  • The Endocrine and Diabetes Conference in Newcastle (2017), presenting a poster on "Intrauterine Growth Restriction as a Presentation of 17Q12 Deletion."
  • The 9th Euro Paediatrics Conference in Dublin (2019), presenting a poster on Van der Woude Syndrome.
  • The Wales Paediatrics Society (WPS) 50th Anniversary Conference (2023), presenting a case series titled "Clinical Features and Outcomes of Enterovirus Myocarditis in Children."

 

Dr. Spandana was also nominated for The Wales PAFTA (Paediatric Awards of Training Achievements) in 2022 for her excellence in paediatric training.

 

She is an influencer on YouTube, with a global following for her healthy lifestyle tips and 90-day diet plans. She has appeared in television interviews, advocating for a healthy lifestyle with the belief that it fosters a happy family.
