Dr. Vishakha Karpe is a competent Senior Pediatric Neurosurgeon in Rainbow children’s hospital , Banjara Hills, and Hydernagar, Hyderabad. She is one of the leading pediatric neurosurgeons in India. She is one of the very few neurosurgeons in India who are working extensively in the field pediatric neurosurgery. She has a vast experience neurosurgery including the past 9 years exclusively in  pediatric neurosurgery. In her diverse experience, she has treated variety of pediatric neurosurgical conditions successfully. She believes in comprehensive care of patient including not only precise surgery but also enlightening the parents of the patient about the complete case management protocol (perioperative treatment plan & care after surgery etc). She is an efficient and passionate medical professional pursuing ethical medical practice.

  1. She completed her MBBS from Maharashtra University of health sciences .
  2. Further, She attained DNB General Surgery postgraduation awarded by  National board of examinations, New Delhi. She gained basic neurosurgical experience from esteemed institution AIIMS , New Delhi.
  3. Later she did Mch super-specialisation in Neurosurgery  from prestigious and one of the oldest institute IPGMER &SSKM hospital, Kolkata.
  4. She also became the Member of Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh(U.K.) after clearing the international exam.
  5. She upgraded her knowledge and skills by completing fellowship in Neuro-endoscopy  from the well known Neuroendoscopy fellowship program at Jabalpur,  and gained advanced skills.

  1. Hydrocephalus (increased fluid in brain ) ,Surgeries: Endoscopic third ventriculostomy,CSF diversion (VP shunt) Endoscopic procedures for complex hydrocephalus.
  2. Craniosynostosis (abnormal head shape due to untimely cranial sutures fusion) Surgeries: Both endoscopic and open surgeries, Helmet therapy.
  3. Spinal dysraphisms (Spina Bifada)-  (spinal abnormalities present by birth) - surgical  repair
  4. Encepahaoceles repair surgery
  5. Vascular conditions and stroke  - Surgeries: Revascularization surgeries for Moya Moya disease
  6. Pediatric brain and spine tumors surgeries
  7. Pediatric brain and spine infections - Surgeries: Endoscopic and open surgeries for brain & spine infections
