Dr Leena Priyambada is a senior consultant in Pediatric Endocrinology. She has more than 15 years of experience in managing children and adolescents with hormonal disorders.
Training and Qualifications: Dr Leena has trained in many prestigious premier institutes of India and abroad. After her MBBS in SCB Medical College, Cuttack, she did her MD in Pediatrics from PGIMER, Chandigarh. She was interested in endocrinology during her MD years itself and she specialised in Pediatric Endocrinology at SGPGI, Lucknow in 2007. She did her senior residency at JIPMER, Puducherry. She further worked in Christian Medical College, Vellore as senior resident and Consultant in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology between 2010 and 2017.
Dr Leena was awarded the NCD Observership in 2015, and did pediatric endocrine observership at Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Ohio, USA. Recently, she further advanced her pediatric diabetes and endocrinology training by doing another fellowship at The Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, The Children’s Hospital at West mead, Sydney in 2020.
Dr Leena is also currently Adjunct Lecturer, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. She was selected as Project Officer for the 2022 ISPAD (International Society for Pediatrics and Adolescent Diabetes) guidelines in the making and she is co-ordinating the making of the various chapters of the 2022 ISPAD guidelines. She was selected as a fellow to APPES (Asia-Pacific Ped Endo Society) fellows school held at Seoul, and ISPAE PET School held at Delhi. She was awarded travel grant to ESPE (European Society of Pediatric Endocrinology) annual scientific meeting at Glasgow.
Additional info: Dr Leena has a keen interest in type 1 diabetes, growth disorders, metabolic bone disease, thyroid and other hormonal conditions of children and adolescents. She is the team lead for one of the modules of Diabetes Educator training course by ISPAE. She has been involved in many diabetes camps for children with type 1 diabetes.
She was a research officer for projects involving insulin pumps, and studies for prevention of type 1 diabetes during her training in Sydney. She believes type 1 diabetes is a condition, and not a disease, which can be managed well with proper education and care. Society affiliations: Dr Leena is one of the founder members of Indian Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology (ISPAE) and has been ISPAE joint secretary in 2019-20.
She also was its executive council member for 4 consecutive years and part of their web team as well as editorial member of the ISPAE newsletter. Asia-Pacific Pediatric Endocrine (APPES), International Society of Pediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD), Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) are the other societies she is affiliated to.
She has been invited as faculty and presented papers in many pediatric endo scientific conferences, authored publications in reputed journals, and chapters in books.
