Dr Jayanth S Sampath is a Senior Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon practicing at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Bangalore, India. He also maintains outreach services in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Cerebral Palsy in the 4 southern states of India. Dr Jayanth’s expertise includes the entire range of bone and joint conditions and trauma in children from birth to 18 years of age. He has a special interest in the management of cerebral palsy, clubfoot, complex limb deformities, muscular dystrophy, neuropathy and children’s fractures. He heads the multi-disciplinary clinic for cerebral palsy and complex disabilities at Pragati, a comprehensive care centre for children with cerebral palsy.
Dr Jayanth graduated from Madras Medical College in 1994. He
completed his training in Orthopedic Surgery from the United Kingdom and United
States including 2 Clinical Fellowships in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at
Alfred I Dupont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, Delaware, USA and Manchester
Children’s Hospital, UK. He was awarded the FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics)
degree by the Intercollegiate Specialty Boards and UK Certificate of Completion
of Specialist Training (CCST) in 2004.Dr Jayanth was appointed as a Consultant Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon
at Alder Hey‘s Children’s Hospital, Liverpool in 2004 where he maintained a
busy clinical practice until he returned to India in October 2010.
In September 2013, Dr Jayanth established Bangalore Institute of Movement Research and Analysis (BIMRA), a purpose-built facility for 3-D walking and movement analysis. BIMRA is is used by surgeons from all over India for analysis and decision making for their patients with complex walking problems. The Institute also offers running and sports analysis to prevent injuries in athletes and for the assessment of the injured athlete through its 3D GAIT system – the only installation of its kind in Asia.
In 2018, Dr Jayanth integrated the services for children with
cerebral palsy under one roof at Rainbow Children’s Hospital, Marathahalli,
Bangalore. “Pragati” is a comprehensive care centre for CP encompassing Pediatric
physiotherapy, orthotics and 3D Gait analysis, speech and occupational therapy,
psychology services and community outreach. Teaching and training of clinicians,
research and innovation are core components of the Pragati vision.Dr Jayanth has over 25 publications in peer-reviewed international
journals, in addition to numerous presentations and book chapters. He is a
member of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of India, Bangalore Orthopedic Society,
Karnataka Orthopedic Association and Indian Orthopedic Society (IOS UK). Dr
Jayanth is the Chief Editor of International Journal of Pediatric Orthopedics.
