RAINBOW'S BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP
Rainbow Children's Hospital & BirthRight is proud to launch Rainbow's Breastfeeding Support Group. We understand that breastfeeding is not an easy process for everyone. It takes a lot of time, dedication and effort. Anything that requires these three elements, require the support of the community as well. This support group brings three aspects with it — the Breastfeeding Club, Human Milk Bank & Breastfeeding Science. Here, expecting mothers and mothers who have recently delivered at our hospital can seek help in understanding the importance of proper breastfeeding, the role of a lactation counsellor, learn about lactation positions, get access to donated breast milk for their baby and a lot more. Let's aim for a world where breastfeeding is normalized and every mother gets the chance to bond with her baby unconditionally.

Since I was unable to breastfeed my first baby due to separation n latching problem. This time I was very much concerned about breastfeeding my newborn and how would be my experience. I had addressed my fears n concern to my dr before my delivery. Dr Shruti reddy assured me that they have the best lactation team and would guide me from the start and I would be able to breastfeed from the start. I was so happy to feed my baby from the operation theatre. I had not imagined that I could have done this. Now It's been a beautiful 1 n half months of exclusive breastfeeding journey for me n my lil one. Although I had difficulty initially in understanding how to breastfeed and regarding the feeding positions. Thankfully Ms Miraj was around and really helped us out. She took time to listen to my problems n helped me find a solution so that I could continue breastfeeding. She showed me different position and helped me with understanding the breastfeeding process. I'm very thankful to entire team of Rainbow Banjara Dr. Shruthi(gynaecologist) and Dr . Nitasha bagga(paediatrician) who have been so pro breastfeeding. Not once was I asked to formula feed despite the initial hiccups. Today me n my lil one enjoy exclusive breastfeeding thanks to this team.
Feeding the child after the surgery is really a challenging situation. My Lactation Consultatnt at Rainbow gave me the strength to cope with this challenging situation. Speaking to her was so helpful and reassuring. She was available for me whenever I had her need. She is not only a good consultant but also a fantastic human with compassion and lot of love for her work. She cares for her clients and gives time for any discussion and query.
I am a first time mom and was having trouble with nursing time as I had a premature baby and he was admitted in NICU for about 2 months . I was in pain and was getting very frustrated. Ms.Archana was so calm and patient in her approach to helping me work through to express milk. After a while she gave some excellent advice and trained me on how should the baby latch without pain . She is an amazing LC whom I’d recommend to all moms having problems nursing or who need any advice on breast feeding!!! ”
It’s been 6 months now and I’m still happily feeding my baby with breast milk and I’m having an amazing journey of motherhood. I can’t thank you enough for your help. I surely would have given up if I didn’t have your support and coaching. Breastfeeding was really important to me and something I really wanted to be able to provide for my son.
